OK it was really hard to stay candida compliant this weekend. I’m honestly still pretty pissed that my skin has been terrible (breaking out all over my forehead), and I was also SUPER TIRED all weekend and subsisting on matcha + lions mane. And multiple rest breaks. Not sure what’s happening. I think I really just need to be getting more sleep. I hate feeling exhausted all the time.
On the food front, it was overall fine, a little tricky when we went to a friend’s house for dinner, and a few decisions that were not 100%. But man, it’s the freakin weekend.
Saturday Brekkie – Not Candida Compliant
This was more of a creative breakfast — ate 2 Birch Benders’ keto toaster waffles. Not totally compliant because of the dairy (and sunflower oil, if we’re being honest)…but it didn’t seem to give me any tummy trouble. I think the amount is probably pretty nominal.

Also juiced some celery that was going bad and made little fritters from the pulp with eggs, leeks, coconut & almond flour, S&P, a little nutritional yeast and coconut aminos. Actually turned out really well. They were HIGHLY fibrous and my stomach wasn’t 100% happy with it… I ended up eating a few spoonfuls of Coconut Cult coconut yogurt which did settle my stomach. Thank god.
Leftovers. Really nothing worth mentioning, although the fish tacos were as delicious as they were the first time the second time around 🙂
WOW this was an awesome dinner which I had nothing to do with whatsoever. Girlfriend made a feast for us to picnic on the beach. She made an INSANE cauliflower risotto that had the most incredible texture. She used a Primal Kitchen pre-jarred dairy-free alfredo sauce that wasn’t entirely compliant because of the cashews and nutritional yeast, but I had a freaking c’est la vie moment and decided to let it go.
Here are the ingredients: Water, Cashew Butter, Tapioca Starch, Avocado Oil, Sea Salt, Roasted Garlic, Onion Powder, Black Pepper, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Citric Acid, Nutritional Yeast
Standard breakfast, with the addition of some KIMCHI and sauerkraut! The fermented foods actually added an extra special something that felt like it balanced out the fattiness of the bacon. Not pictured: a matcha latte with matcha + almond milk + some lecithin situation and flax seed oil gf put in. The lecithins created an interesting texture that almost felt chewy.. and made it feel more like a meal and more filling, which was nice.
We went to our friends’ house for an al fresco dinner and FEASTED. Our friend created this really cute setup with a little push cart (pictured below).
How’d I Do?
I’m half in half out with candida diet at the moment. I’ve honestly been getting bored and wanting to eat different things that end up not being candida compliant. Keto waffles are definitely not OK but have somewhat OK ingredients… the cauliflower risotto was chock-full of cashews a no-no nut. I’m definitely feeling some resistance these days and kind of a feeling of “Man, I just want to live my life.” And I’m again halfway in… trying my best to be candida compliant and honestly eating very similarly to how I used to pre-candida diet. Where the food combining has fallen more or less to the wayside. My skin is terrible (my forehead is breaking out like crazy), and maybe that has to do with this whole thing? I honestly have no clue and it’s starting to drive me mad.
