90 Day Cleanse

Day 16: Can You Eat Sushi On the Candida Diet?

Woke up this morning feeling amazing (but spoiler alert, by midday, not feeling so great)! Crazy because I didn’t have as much sleep as I would have thought I needed (~7 hours), and even less than yesterday when I was EXHAUSTED and dragging all day. But I got out of bed feeling great, and high energy. My Whoop’s showing an unprecedentedly stellar recovery:

Standard brekkie with eggs. Cut up some zukes, onions, tossed in some power greens (kale, spinach, chard) and topped with the last bits of smoked salmon. Satiating enough, but I know I’ll want a little snack later in the day.

OK by the end of the day, I was NOT feeling OK. Energy, fine. Vagina, NOT OK. Fuck. Made some Chinese herbs, took some pau de arco, used some Chinese herbal cream (intravaginally), put a boric acid suppository up, and some hydrogen peroxide. Feels a little like going back to square 1.

No real lunch TBH. Basically just ate some leftovers from last night and tossed in some salad greens, carrots, MCT oil, nutritional yeast, coconut aminos, S&P and called it a day. Definitely had starchy vegetables (I think yucca) with meat, which I know is a no-no, but I was exhausted and still on calls.

Wish I had a pic here, but really was just desperate to eat something (ate around 4 PM) and was on a call while doing it.

OK, this is where everything really fell apart. I met up with some friends for dinner who had very kindly picked up food. I didn’t have a chance to talk to anyone about my dietary restrictions, and so just hoped for the best. When I heard that it was sushi, I was pretty apprehensive, because I knew that there would probably be little that was compliant (rice = no, soy = no, sesame = no). And well…I did my best. I ate mostly sashimi and seaweed salad, but no lie, definitely had a piece of a roll with rice, and a piece of edamame. And I’m sure there was plenty of soy, sesame, and probably even sugar in the seaweed salad. I tried. I don’t think more sushi is in my future anytime soon, unfortunately. It was a beautiful night, though. And Wabi-Sabi kills it with the pink box presentation.

And a pic of the gorgeous outdoor eating setup just because.

How’d I Do?

Rating: 3/10

Yeah. This was a fail. And I already wasn’t feeling great today down there, so I’m sure my decisions today didn’t help… Ordinarily, sushi would have been a pretty compliant meal for me (gluten-free/dairy free), but on the candida diet, I think that sushi is a no-go going forward. Poke, probably OK if I’m careful. Sushi…. man, that’s a landmine. Popped a boric acid suppository in before I went to sleep and prayed for a merciful tomorrow.
